Description:
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo established the Office for New Americans (ONA) to assist newcomers to New York State who are eager to contribute to our economy and become part of the family of New York State. ONA helps new Americans fully participate in New York State civic and economic life. The ONA intern will conduct research on the new American population in the different regions in New York State using the most recent U.S. Census data and help draft fact sheets. The intern will draft memos on a variety of immigration topics and compose daily New York State immigration news clip compilations. The intern will also draft content for an ONA blog. The intern will support the launch of the Community Navigator Program in its goal of identifying areas with growing immigrant populations and in need of services. Other tasks assigned may include: assisting with the creation of an ONA contact database through SharePoint; staffing ONA events; and contacting the ONA network for information. ONA office hours are Monday through Friday, from 9am - 5pm, and the Albany office is seeking a commitment of 30 - 40 hours per week.
