Description:

THE INTERNSHIP IS HIGHLY CLINICAL AND REQUIRES THE INTERN TO BE PART OF A MULTIDISCIPLINARY TEAM ON A UNIT WITHIN THE INPATIENT PROGRAM. THERE ARE FOUR UNITS: 2 BOYS' AND 2 GIRLS' UNITS, AGE OF CHILDREN RANGING FROM 11-18. INTERNS OVER T HE COURSE OF THEIR INTERNSHIP DEVELOP SKILLS IN THERAPY (INDIV, GROUP, DBT), AND FAMILY THERAPY. THEY LEARN TO FACILITATE COMMUNITY MTGS WITH CHILDREN. THEY ATTEND AND PARTICIPATE IN MORNING ROUNDS. THEY MEET WITH RESPECTIVE SUPERVISORS WEEKLY ON ASSIGNED UNIT. THEY ARE TAUGHT HOW TO DOCUMENT IN THE CHILD'S MEDICAL RECORD ALONG WITH LEARNING HOW TO COMPLETE DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATIONS, PSYCHOSOCIAL, CLINICAL UPDATE AND DISCHARGE PLANNING.
