Proposal Information

Description:

The placement is in the Bureau of Labor Market Information (BLMI), which is a group of approximately 30 economists, statisticians and research specialists engaged in producing a wide range of economic reports and labor market products.

The intern will work on a number of research projects related to New York State's labor market and the economy in general. Working together with a team of economists, statisticians and research specialists, the intern will assist with the preparation of monthly jobs press releases, associated web-based reports, monthly briefing documents for Department executive staff and the Governor's Office and various ad hoc data requests. The intern will also write articles for our award-winning monthly economics newsletter and assist with other assignments as needed.

The selected candidate(s) will: learn how official government statistical series are produced from beginning (data collection) to end (publication); more fully develop analytical skills useful in a wide range of job environments; hone their writing skills under the direction of a staff of professional economists, statisticians and research specialists.
