Description:

Interns will apply previous training in preventative conservation and housekeeping to two real world historic sites. The intern will assist the staff one day a week at Clermont State Historic Site and one day a week at Staatsburg State Historic Site. The intern selected will become familiar with the successes and constraints of implementing a housekeeping plan based on the precepts of decorative arts conservation. Interns will recognize the chemical and physical causes of deterioration in the course of doing their duties. They will provide suggestions to the conservation staff to improve collections care. If possible they will assist the staff in expanding collection care programs through community outreach.
