Proposal Information

Description:

This project will entail an analysis of the New York State Department of Health Lead Poisoning Prevention Program data including worksheets and contracts. The purpose of this internship is to assist the Bureau of Community Environmental Health and Food Protection in analyzing the outcomes of health services including the benefits of targeted outreach and educational activities related to lead poisoning prevention. The information gathered would assist in determining the best evaluation practices across the NYS Lead Poisoning Prevention Programs to increase the knowledge of lead poisoning prevention and the regulation to test all children at one year and two years for blood lead levels. The student will also analyze the baseline blood lead testing rate of the lowest performing health care practices identified in 2016 by the Local Health Departments. The student will then identify the increased blood lead testing rates for these health care practices over the contract year. The student will analyze the data and identify and determine any trends that most likely caused for the increased blood lead testing in the health care practice.
