Description:
Internship is in the Division of Family Health/Campus Sexual Assault Prevention Unit. This internship will focus on supporting the Enough is Enough (EiE) Program, particularly in the areas of education, outreach, and building connections between colleges/universities and rape crisis/sexual violence prevention programs through the development of a public health detailing package. The EiE program is a state funded program that provides rape crisis/sexual violence prevention program resources to colleges and universities to assist them in implementing the Enough is Enough law requirements on campuses throughout New York State. The law requires that colleges and universities provide services and prevention education to students on sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking. The Enough is Enough program provides the opportunity to advance public health violence prevention strategies in college communities and support quality medical care provided to victims of sexual assault.
Duties include to:
* Research the issue of campus sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking, as well as the New York State Enough is Enough Law and Program.
* Survey Enough is Enough Contractors on the needs they have in regards to outreach for the program and establishing connections with college and university campuses.
* Develop a public health detailing package for rape crisis/sexual violence programs use when discussing the Enough is Enough Program with colleges and universities. This package would include at minimum:
o Information on the issue of campus sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking and recommendations on evidence-based/informed interventions and prevention education.
o Information on the services available to colleges and universities through the Enough is Enough Program Rape Crisis/Sexual Violence Contractors.
o Information on best practice responses to sexual assault victims, especially related to receiving emergency medical care and forensic examinations.
o Instructions on how to use the public detailing package.
o Tools to measure effectiveness of use of the package materials.
* Develop a distribution plan for the public health detailing package.
* Develop a process to collect data on the effectiveness of the use of the materials with colleges and universities to promote use of the Enough is Enough resources, improvement of responses to victims, and improvement of the use of evidence- based/informed prevention education methods.
