Description:
Under the supervisor of a Regional Coordinator\Planner\Director, interns will liaison with county partners to develop and refine the state's planning efforts to respond to incidents.
- One intern will be assigned to planning to assist with the Suffolk County Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan and other pre-planning to include vetting contact numbers and personnel that need to be notified by the state during an emergency.
- The second intern will assist with field response issues.
Additional Details:
Both interns will rotate in the positions to get a broader overview of regional operations. Interns will report to the State OEM Office in Hauppauge. Goals will be established on a weekly basis. Interns will also be asked to assist in reviewing documents to be purged from office files as well as assist in the inventory of response equipment. During an incident, interns will be utilized to assist with manning the Emergency Operations Center desk under close supervision. Interns will also be used to assist OEM staff with implementing the Governor's new Civilian Preparedness Initiative and have direct contact with the public. Training on specialized software as well as base line Emergency Management knowledge will be provided. Each intern will be required to provide a briefing paper\presentation on what they have accomplished during their time with the agency.
- 8 hour work days are preferred at a minimum of 3 days per week.
