DESCRIPTION OF INTERNSHIPS

I. OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT
Interns will work with staff to gain training and assist in:
* General Administrative Support and Reception; Paper/Digital File Archiving and Organization
* NYS Government Research
QUALIFICATIONS:
* A current undergraduate or graduate student or recent graduate
* Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills
* Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access along with familiarity with multimedia and productivity websites (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo, ZoHo, Google Docs, etc.)
II. GRANT PROGRAMS DEPARTMENT
Interns will work with Grant Program staff and assist in areas of grant program administration:
* Working on an Electronic Grants Management/Application system
* Catalog grant application and work sample submissions
* Review application support material submissions (video, audio, and documents)
* Preparation and support for Panel Meetings, operation of media and technical equipment, and taking meeting notes
* Communicate with applicant organizations across the state
QUALIFICATIONS:
* A current undergraduate or graduate student or recent graduate

* Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access along with familiarity with multimedia and productivity websites
SCHEDULE: Schedules are flexible and generally include interning 8 - 20 hours a week, Monday - Friday, for between 2 and 6 months. Office hours are 9:00 - 5:00 pm;TO APPLY: Interested applicants must submit a cover letter, no more than one page, containing 1) area/s of interest 2) available start and end date and 3) days of week and/or hours available. Internship applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. NYSCA will only contact applicants with whom interviews will be scheduled.
The New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) is a New York State agency dedicated to supporting arts, culture, and heritage activities that serve the state's citizens and visitors. Each year, through a competitive grant program, NYSCA awards grants to non-profit organizations. In FY15-16, more than 1,850 grants were made to over 1,250 organizations.
NYSCA is now accepting applications to its Internship Program for Summer 2016. The internships are unpaid and may be performed for academic credit and/or work experience. Interns are needed in NYSCA's Executive Offices, Operations and Grant Programs. Interns will gain hands-on experience and valuable exposure to public sector arts funding policies; non-profit arts management and artistic programming; state agency operations; analysis and evaluation of grant applications; and integration of new technologies in funding and agency management.
