Description:
Assist OEJ staff in executing a variety of programs. The summer intern may be asked to scan/shred documents, work on GIS maps, create or update spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel to track progress of programs, update lists of community organizations and stakeholders, compile pictures for a picture library, write brief articles for the EJ newsletter and attend community meetings or events. In addition, he or she may be asked to conduct research and compile raw data from within the agency and convert it into a usable format for program staff.
An intern in the Office of Environmental Justice (OEJ) should be eager to learn about environmental justice, which is defined as the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin or income with respect to the development, implementation and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations and policies.
