Description:
The NYS Ocean Action Plan highlights 61 specific actions within the designated offshore planning area, from state waters to the continental shelf, to support the ecological integrity of the ocean ecosystem, promote economic growth and sustainable human use of the ocean ecosystem, increase the resiliency of ocean resources associated with climate change, and to empower the public in decision-making and ocean stewardship.
Working with the NYS Ocean Coordinator and Ocean Outreach Coordinator, the selected intern will be responsible for researching and developing survey and interview questions for stakeholders including fishermen; create graphics for public display signs; create narrative and/or GIS layers for the NYS Gateway Information System; and help create stewardship and education plans for schools and summer camps in the ocean watershed.
