Description:

The New York Department of State's Division of Consumer Protection (DCP) is charged with the protection, education and representation of issues affecting consumers. DCP's core functions are consumer assistance; identity theft prevention and mitigation; educational outreach on consumer issues and product safety; intervention on behalf of consumers in utility proceedings; and development of policy and legislation in aid of consumers.

An internship with the Division of Consumer Protection provides students with an opportunity to learn information on a vast array of topics. We are all consumers and there are a myriad of issues that affect us on a daily basis as we navigate the consumer marketplace. The DCP's goal to ensure consumers have the information they need to make informed choices in the marketplace.

Task/Duties: The DCP is seeking interns for the Fall 2016 semester who will work with the Division Director and the Outreach Unit researching and analyzing consumer issues, drafting reports on consumer issues, drafting consumer alerts, updating the Division's social media and website, and coordinating outreach events and special projects.
