Proposal Information

Description:

The Special Investigations and Prosecutions Unit (SIPU) in the Office of the New York State Attorney General (OAG) is seeking talented law students for a summer internship to assist with research and writing on policy and legal issues related to police use of force investigations. This is an unpaid opportunity for second and third year law students.

The SPIU was created in July 2015 in response to the issuance of an Executive Order by the Governor of the State of New York appointing the Attorney General as a special prosecutor "to investigate, and if warranted, prosecute certain matters involving the death of an unarmed civilian . . . caused by a law enforcement officer." The Unit includes experienced homicide prosecutors and investigators throughout the State.
