Proposal Information


The Board of Parole is an independent decision making entity within the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. It partners with other criminal justice agencies, communicates with offender advocacy groups, vicitm assistance providers, and responds to legislative correspondence and queries.
An Internship with the Board of Parole will provide the student with hands on experience with the Corrections process as well as the Parole process. It is also an opportunity to assist with release and revocation mechanisms and procedures.
Activities include entering data in the Access data base, case file reviews for various release types, Board actions on releases and addressing correspondence. The student will work with statewide community resources and other criminal justice professionals to complete "due diligence" tasks through internet searches and phone contacts to facilities and Community Supervision field offices.
Additional tasks may include assisting with the preparation of Board Business meetings and reports for the Chairwoman.
Special projects and tasks will be assigned as needed by the office.

Typical work hours: Flexible work hours during 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
