Description:
Section 1033 of the Fiscal Year 1997 Federal National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) authorizes the Secretary of Defense to transfer excess Department of Defense (DOD) property to federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies through the "1033 Program". The Office of Public Safety is responsible for oversight and management of the Program. Items available to law enforcement through the Program includes most types of property used by the military such as office furniture, computers, boats, vehicles, shelters, ATVs, weapons, generators, armored/tactical vehicles and aircraft.
Tasks assigned to the intern would include:
*Building/updating spreadsheets for 2013 inventory requirements as required by the US Department of Defense.
*Identifying participating law enforcement agencies with new CEO's and correspond with them to perform requisite update process.
*Facilitating the transfer/turn-in of property
*Facilitating the enrollment/re-enrollment of law enforcement agencies.
*Developing PowerPoint presentations and written materials for training.
*Assisting in the scheduling of onsite program compliance reviews (PCRs) and attend/observe several PCRs of local police departments.
