Proposal Information

Description:

The New York State Department of Labor is seeking a student assistant to work in the Division of Employment and Workforce Solutions (DEWS). The division provides extensive data reporting and analysis, as well as providing technical assistance to support state and local partners throughout the state. A primary focus of DEWS is to connect job seekers with businesses searching for talent in New York State.

In this opportunity, a student assistant will apply their skills in data analytics, data visualization, business intelligence and information science to hands on assignments that will inform executive-decision making on a variety of programs. Program examples include statewide career center operations performance reports, the Governor's Asylum Seeker Outreach Initiative, and the virtual career center. Assignments may include data analysis, data modeling, data visualization, creating executive dashboards, and presenting findings. DEWS uses data analytics software and platforms such as Tableau, Looker, and Power BI to name a few.

This will be an exciting and fast paced opportunity. Student assistants will further develop skills and gain work experience while adding value to the success of DEWS.
