Proposal Information

Description:

The NYS DEC DLF BISEH's Invasive Species Coordination Section seeks an intern to assist with a study comparing the plant communities in small waterbodies with and without/limited public access. The intern will be responsible for determining suitable study sites using GIS, developing an attribute table for study sites, obtaining site access permissions and permits where necessary, organizing and managing point intercept surveys and other surveys at waterbodies, identifying all plant species collected, preserving representative samples for each species; and entering and analyzing data. Additionally, the intern will assist with other AIS related surveys as they arise. The intern will work with the DEC Aquatic Invasive Species Team to complete these tasks. Daily tasks include field sampling of aquatic plants, plant identification, plant preservation, data entry and analysis. Hours will typically be 20 hours per week Monday through Friday between 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM
