Proposal Information

Description:

The intern will provide direct support to the Region 5 Division of Lands and Forests. The intern will perform a variety of duties in support of program including tasks related to forest inventory and recreation.

Primary duties may include some of the following: Assist with forest inventory, stand type mapping, trail maintenance, data collection, and monitoring.

The intern should be able to work safely and independently, or as part of a team, in remote settings with minimal supervision; have a valid driver's license and be able to report to the Ray Brook DEC office; be able to negotiate difficult terrain, and work in remote areas in adverse weather conditions.

Interested candidates should have an eagerness to work and speak with the public, familiarity with ArcGIS, GPS, and Microsoft applications along with course work in forestry. This internship will be 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
